Designed for the connection you have
Portcroft Saver puts commodity prices and the latest insights on one page. It's simple, fast and reliable.
Most websites assume the connection will look after itself. On office broadband or a strong mobile signal it usually does, and everything on the page arrives before anyone notices.
Buying doesn't wait for a good signal, though. Buyers check prices between site visits, on trains, abroad on roaming data, or in a warehouse with one bar of signal. When all you need is one price, waiting for the rest of a website to load costs you time and data you didn't need to spend.
Portcroft Saver is a lighter version of the site that keeps only the commodity prices and the latest insights. It has no photographs, no scripts and no downloaded fonts, so it uses the type already installed on your phone.
Measured on 3 October 2026, Saver came to about 6 KB. The Portcroft homepage, with everything it loads, came to about 850 KB, so Saver is less than 1% of its size. On a weak mobile signal, Saver opens in a fraction of a second while the full homepage takes around 17 seconds. On a capped or roaming plan, it uses only a few kilobytes.
Saver also carries the latest Portcroft insights: the short pieces on what is moving commodity prices, supply chains and regulation for UK buyers. So if you want to understand what's behind a price, the information is there too. Each piece opens as a plain page that reads just as easily on a weak signal, and where a piece relies on charts or photographs.
Taking everything else away also makes the page clearer. You get the price and the date it applies to, which is often all you came for.
The full Portcroft website still has its place, and most visitors will use it at a desk. Saver draws on the same prices and insights, for the times when you need something quicker.
